Letters to the Editors

Letters or emails to the editor of your local newspaper are highly influential in raising awareness within your community and a great way to publicly influence Senators Conrad and Dorgan to vote NO on the Card Check legislation. The strongest letters to the editor explain who you are and why you care about the rights of workers and the damage this bill will inflict on our local and national economy.

  • It will deny workers their right to a secret ballot election.

  • It will force workers to make a choice in front of their peers and management.

  • It will force jobs overseas.

The most effective letters or emails are from people who care about the economic well being of our country, the rights of workers and the importance of keeping jobs at home.

In your letter or email to the editor:

1. State why this issue is important to you.

2. Include personal stories: Have you ever been in a labor union or experienced negotiation with the union? If you are a business owner, do you feel you treat your employees fairly and compassionately without involvement of a union? Have you ever experienced a violation of your workplace rights? Whatever your story is, share it!

3. Share your letter or email with friends, family and co-workers and encourage them to submit their own.
